Watson, M.D.
True Name: As above
Canon: Sherlock Holmes stories, book canon (canon point: 1892, a year after Holmes's supposed "death" at Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland. Also going to say that Mrs. Watson is dead because canon is not clear when or how that happens.)
Age: 40
History: Enjoy

Powers/Abilities: Watson is an accomplished surgeon. As a former soldier, he's also a crack shot with a revolver. He also used to play rugby for Blackheath when he was much younger. Highly literate with a knack for writing a sensationalist story. He's also picked up a little bit of deduction from Holmes over the years, though it never comes naturally to him and he struggles with it.

Inventory: A battered, fifty-year-old gold pocket watch inscribed "H. Watson"; a woman's gold wedding ring; a silver cigarette case (with a few cigarettes inside); a solid, if simple, walking stick; a notebook and lead pencil; a revolver, his old service weapon

Job History: 1888-present: General Practitioner. Duties and skills include: making house calls, office hours, diagnosing and treating illnesses and wounds, prescribing medicine, surviving the boredom of being a respectable medical man, being a half-respectable husband until Mary Watson née Morstan dies of ?????
1881-1891: Consulting Detective Biographer. Duties include being the one to carry the gun, tackling people who attack Sherlock Holmes, going along with plans no one's explained to him, nursing Sherlock Holmes back to health after nervous collapse from overwork/lack of food and sleep/too much cocaine, occasional solitary investigations of variable success, writing and publishing fun stories about how cool Sherlock Holmes is, occasional burglary but only for a good cause, being the most long-suffering of mortals.
Reason for leaving: the death of Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Professor Moriarty at the Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland.
1878-1880: Assistant Surgeon in Her Majesty's Army. Duties include keeping soldiers alive, being shot at, having vaguely-alluded-to adventures in India and Afghanistan.
Reason for leaving: Being shot, nearly dying, recovering, getting typhoid in the hospital at Peshawar and nearly dying again, and then being discharged and sent home.

Suppressions: Problem gambling (mostly successful), willingly and impulsively throwing himself into danger (extremely unsuccessful), concern about maybe not being quite as proper an English gentleman as a doctor ought to be (moderately successful), inability to distrust a pretty face (moderately unsuccessful), occasional fits of sharp temper (moderately successful), fear of failure (currently very unsuccessful).

Greatest Fear: Losing the people he loves and cares for.
Greatest Desire: Having the two people he loves and cares for most in the world back from the dead.
Greatest Regret: That time he let Holmes out of his sight at the Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland and he died. Or at least Watson thinks he died.

Sample: Here's some stuff on a test drive for another game

comments
