She is a novel of which approximately a million terrible movie adaptions exist. I have seen one. It was, really, terrible, but I watched it because inexplicably Edward Hardwicke was in it... and I like Edward Hardwicke. He's pretty widely considered to have been the Best Dr. Watson Ever.
But I understand the actual book is, despite all these terrible movies, actually very good, and I have heard Haggard's books be described as a sort of Victorian Indiana Jones-esque adventure-with-flavours-of-fantasy.
