The Infamous Sims

So, I've mentioned once or twice that I've been playing a lot of the Sims 2 lately. Why yes, Sims 3 is out. No, I don't have plans to buy it.

I've also mentioned that I set up Holmes and Watson in the neighbourhood. This is something I have done in every Sims game I've ever started, since the original game. It was one of the first things I did. First I would set up a little house somewhere with myself, and then I'd sit down and spend a few hours crafting a Victorian-styled manor and stick Holmes and Watson in it. I think I started doing this just because one of the explansions of the original game included skins for Holmes and Watson, and it was just easy.

Even if I have all sorts of words about the deerstalker-and-morning-coat ensemble they gave Holmes. Serious words!

My Sims 2 Holmes and Watson are the first that are an actual couple, because sim!Holmes decided of his own free will to give Watson a backrub in the front yard, and it all sort of spiralled out of control, and even if I'm now uncertain that I can ever show this game to anyone I know, because these two go everywhere and make out everywhere, there was absolutely nothing I could do to stop them crushing on each other.

Ah well.

Anyway, a friend of mine demanded screenshots a little while back, and I thought I'd share. Also, a video of questionable quality.

We start with a picture of the top floor, Watson's bedroom. Yes, they have separate bedrooms. Yes, they only use one at a time. Watson's dreaming about the neighbour for some reason.

The second floor, with the sitting room, and Holmes's bedroom. You can tell it's Holmes's room because of the pictures of famed criminals on the walls! :D There's also the teeny bathroom on this floor, but you can't really see it.

Looking at the (surprisingly clean) sitting room from the other angle, we see a piano. There are no violins in Simland.

Watson appreciates the music anyway, and shows it by dancing.

This is drama of the first floor bathroom. There is one tub. They always both want it at once. And for some reason, they are always shocked and horrified by the sight of the other one naked.

(Please note my wonderful Victorian pull-chain toilet. It is the best thing ever.)

Watson tried to make Crepes Suzette. Unfortunately, Crepes Suzette involve fire, and Watson... lit himself on fire. The -2000 is because he apparently had a great fear of fire. Presumably, whether or not it involved his trousers is irrelevant.

When I showed this picture to the friend who originally requested it, she called me out on my completely anachronistic microwave. :( The kitchen is an exception.

Fortunately, Holmes and a firefighter came to Watson's rescue!

This is a neighbour's house. If you play the game, you may recognize this as being Olive Specter of Strangetown's old house, except she died and I have moved someone else into it. His name is Tim, and he's currently working his way along the criminal career. Bizarrely, despite his choice of profession, he somehow really hit it off with Holmes and they are best friends.

I don't get it either. It just happened.

Anyway. Tim has lawn gnomes. Holmes keeps stealing them. Tim keeps stealing them back. It is never ending. Here is Holmes, preparing to abscond with a gnome. If you look through the still-open gate, you can see Watson, who appears to be cheerfully distracting Tim.

... with fried eggs.

And then the sun set, and ghosts came out, and one of them snuck up on Watson, and he peed himself in his fright, and then went home.

I'm actually baffled by Holmes and Tim's friendship, especially since I had nothing to do with it. Holmes finds Tim vaguely attractive, apparently, and Tim finds both Holmes and Watson really cute (!), but no one seems inclined to do anything about it, so that's all right.

Also, Holmes, look at what he is wearing. Use those amazing deductive facilities. Jesus.

It always kind of bothers me when Holmes has the same gaps in logic as any other Sim. No, Holmes, that's a skunk. It's a bad idea to pet skunks.

Told you.

And now, a video. See, apparently, Holmes and Watson really like to go clubbing. If you go downtown, and there is a dance floor, odds are you'll find them on the edge of the dance floor, alternately making fun of the other dancers and boogying down with each other like there's no tomorrow. This has been known to completely distract me from what I was actually trying to do downtown with other sims.

So I made a video.

How does Watson do that backbend? He's a limber son of a bitch. I'm impressed.

Oh Sims. XDD That's an AWESOME house! I'm never patient enough to really decorate their houses nicely. Also one of the expansion packs -- FreeTime -- has a violin! I like when Watson sets himself on fire, he puts his hand on his chest like "Oh dear!"

(Also the first picture seems broken!)

Oh my goodness. That is all sorts of amazing win. I suddenly understand your obsession! If I could watch those two be cute for hours (they make out everywhere, that just killed me!), I would certainly do so.

Haha! Love it! They're so cute. =) I used to play the Sims constantly (but then my computer broke and I have yet to buy a new Sims game) and I did the same thing with Sirius and Remus. They shared a lil house together and were genuinely adorable. hehe!

Haha! That game is waaaaay addicting. =D

omg I only just now saw the title to that YouTube video LOLZ A+++++ I LOVE that song. XD

Well of course you have to keep the piano. A Sim house is incomplete without a piano. Most of mine love to play music for some reason or another. XD

I am the. worst. Sim. architect. EVER. I have to be in the right mood to want to mess with houses idk; most of my time I spend making them fall in love and then adopt (because most of mine are gay couples XD) kids. And adopt more kids. I like Sim kids. XD

YOU'RE MAKING ME WANT TO PLAY SIMS 3. Which is a problem since I can't until the new laptop gets here, which I've been waiting for for like three weeks now and it's ridiculous.

I tend to make initial couples together, but I let their kids pick who they like the most (if they aren't too unattractive). Most of them wind up with someone of the same gender all by themselves! XD

HAHAHA BEST POST EVER! I laughed hardest at Holmes being horrified by Watson bathing, though Watson setting himself on fire and Holmes trying to pet the skunk were pretty damn amazing, too.

This is so timely, too! I just started playing Sims 3 today (because my roommate bought it and made me an account on her computer so I could play it!) and... made a Sim of Martha. (And the Doctor, and Rose, and Donna!) I think I might need to follow suit and post screencaps.

Also, it terrifies me how addictive that game is. I started playing around 2. The next time I looked at my watch, it was 7:30 and I was half an hour late for my evening's plans. Whoops!

OH NO. VAMPIRE WATSON.

HOW DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN?

[identity profile] jonesingdoctor.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaha, oh my goodness. I guess vampires have... a... lot... of... stamina. Uh. EVEN THOUGH HOLMES IS HORRIFIED BY THE SIGHT OF WATSON NAKED. Make up your mind, Holmes!

It's amazing 'cause in my roommate's game, one of my Sim's greatest dreams is to be friends with... one of my close friends. Hahaha, it's ridiculous. Another is to give my roommate a friendly hug. Soooo funny.

[identity profile] jonesingdoctor.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no! The hazards of vampirism!

[identity profile] bontempsbarmaid.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh goodness. Holmes needs a 12-step program for his little thieving problem!

(And, perhaps, to stop reading fantasy stories, if he's so YAY VAMP WATSON!)

Oh My God this is amazing! I used to play sims all the time and then I got my Mac and didn't want to re-buy them for mac. Now I am going to have to because this is just so damn amazing.... especially the dancing.

OMG I just about died laughing at your pic commentary.... AMAZING!

This is absolutely the best post ever. I can't even. I just. ohmygod

Favourite bits:
  • the fact that you made their house with the SAME SET-UP as Baker Street! ♥ I was not patient enough to do that with my Holmes and Watson Sims. Also, the extra content is amazing! I wish I knew how to set up the extra content, but I am technologically stupid.
  • Holmes stealing gnomes. I mean, what is that all about? Not that I mind, because it is amazing.
  • HOLMES DO NOT PET THAT SKUNK, NOOO.
  • Watson getting himself into trouble with the ghost and the fire. Bless him <3
  • the fact that you named that video "John, I'm Only Dancing". Perfect.
