"Yes, thank you, I am aware of how penknives work," Watson points out, but his tone is teasing. "I am not that old. Come here," and he reaches to pull César into a kiss -- knife safely folded out of the way, of course.

"The two blades is slightly different!" César protests mildly but he's laughing at himself, and he gets right back into Watson's lap as they kiss. "Mmm, you're aware of how kissing works, too."

"I certainly hope so," Watson laughs, gathering him close. "Though I always want more practice. In the interest of self-improvement, of course."

After a moment of simply enjoying being close, César gives him another slow, indulgent kiss, running a hand through his hair. "I'll never say no to more practice."

He runs and hand through Watsons hair starts a new kiss that he suddenly has to stop so he can speak. "... oh! The knife handle has some tweezers and a scribe in it! I got the overall design from an old knife I saw back on Earth once."

Look, this isn't the first or the last time César will remember something in the middle of kissing that needs to be shared immediately.

It isn't, and it won't be, and Watson finds it utterly charming. "You've truly gone above and beyond with it," he says, warmly. "Goodness. 'Back on Earth.' Is that how we talk now? What a strange phrase."

Watson and Johnny are so used to it that César doesn't even register it as something to be worried about anymore. He used to apologize. Now, he can just be himself. It's wondrous.

For the record, he had to do all the making by hand since he didn't have a CNC machine to cut the handle out. And the micarta was easier to shape than whatever he used for the knives. César will not state the amount of work that was. It was a LOT. Also César might've had issues with his hands after a day's work on his birthday present projects. And he may have complained in a happy way.

"I wanted something that was resistant to moisture, chemicals, and temperature differences. You'll never know when you need it. I still need to make the case for it, but that's quick enough to make out of leather when you decide how you want to store it." César laughs a little, and another quick kiss. "It is strange. But the strangeness means I can be married to you and Johnny. Anyway, Johnny's probably going to suspect his present is related, and he'd be right. But no one gets to see his until his birthday."

"It will fit quite nicely in my pocket," Watson assures him, and after admiring the blade for a moment, folds it up and tucks it away safely. He wraps his arms around César fondly, and rests his head against him.

César smiles down at Watson and runs his hands through his hair slowly, cherishing messing it all up. "We'll be with you."

Except the knife will remain behind at home. Not that any of them know that right now. But it's the thought that counts, right?
